Biophilia

While exploring the fluidity of water, the playfulness of the colors started to speak a language of their own and very quickly began to resemble living organisms.

These images were made while I was going through some personal challenges, a loss and the overall anxiety of covid, I let each image form and take shape from my mental state, almost like a release of my emotions out in the open and a visualisation of what the feelings on a particular day felt like. As friends and aquaintances saw them, they had their own experiences to share, some calming, some picking up on something more dark and disturbing and some found it abstract or amusing. While the project had started with an intention to work with water and it's sculptural properties that shape all living beings on both the micro and macro level, it progressed into a more emotional response to our state of being during a crisis that we all are collectively facing.
